Communications and Operations Intern – (she/her)

As someone who grew up in Hawaii, I am grateful to have grown up in a state of such diverse culture. However, over the years I have come to witness the effects of climate change, overtourism, and construction developments on locals and their living conditions. People are forced to leave the islands, due to these overwhelming issues that are not addressed thoroughly. Being aware of these issues have made me a strong believer in youth advocacy, and bringing together our voices for changes to be made within the land we call home.
One way I am a participant in youth advocacy is being a member of the Menstrual Equity Initiative or MĚI, an organization pushing for menstrual equity around the world in fields of medical and legal research, legislation, etc. I recently testified for and helped pass a resolution in the recent legislative session for a more comprehensive menstrual education plan within the Hawaii Department of Education.
At Boston University, I study Health Science, and hope to go on to earn my Master’s Degree in Public Health with a focus on Public Policy. I am excited to join BCAN, and contribute to its mission of climate justice in the city I am lucky enough to attend school in.
