Do you want to hear about a really hot idea for affordable energy bills?
Join BCAN for a free, open to the public forum, exploring networked geothermal energy. Local experts will discuss what it is, how it can happen in Boston, how it can be paid for, and – best of all – how it can be community-led and community-shared.
But I want a basic rundown now.
Sure! Geothermal energy comes from “geo” (earth) and “thermal” (heat). It’s heat from the Earth! Even a few hundred feet down, there’s a consistent flow of heat from lower, hotter rocks. By looping a pipe down and back up, we can put cold water in and get warm water out. From there, that heat can be converted to electricity, or it can be used directly to warm or cool our homes.
